View Full Version : Whiteline springs & Koni Struts?
I'm sorry to mention something other than whiteline products in here, especially being my first post. However I was wondering if anybody had fitted whiteline springs along with koni adjustable struts and what your opinions were?
I will be ordering and fitting these within the next few weeks anyway, but its always good to hear opinions from other people who may have followed the same path.
A little off-topic but a bonus for whiteline - i must admit that i was more than impressed with Wayne's pre-sales support which was impressive. I contacted 3 other well-known spring producing companies or their sales reps who had very little advice to offer, nor did they answer my questions completely. Whiteline went beyond the boundaries and I was left nothing but impressed that I was making the right decision. I haven't been brainwashed or fooled - I'm just aware of good customer service and whiteline have exceeded that expectation, and technically their advice does add up.
Can't wait to fit the new goodies :)
G'day everyone,
Lonx, no need to apologise for the mention of other or competing brands of suspension. This is not meant to be a commercial forum but more of a place for suspension related technical discussion. So, just as we would not use the pure technical sections to promote our business, nor do we obejct to other brands being mentioned if it promotes or adds to the quality of discussion.
Though Whiteline are the main sponsors of this site, our primary aim is to encourage technical discussion irrespective of names etc. If that means quoting these names then so be it BUT, we will not tolerate blatant promotion of any names (welcome in Sales/Commercial section of site.)
As to your specific technical point, you have not mentioned a vehicle application or Koni product specification so its a little hard to answer :D
Apart from that, we very much appreciate your comments regarding our customer service. We aim to offer solutions to suspension problems while trying to inform and educate. If it works, we'll eventually sell some product.
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome message Jim. Great to hear its a more open forum rather than closed about your products only.
The car in question is a Series 2 (late '88) Nissan Exa. Most of its km's will be light suburban & freeway driving, but the car is getting a serious naturally aspirated buildup over the next year with the odd track day in mind. Eventually i hope to strip it out and keep it as a track-day/hill climb car. Gotta start with something :)
Oh, and i'll be fitting a new rear swaybar (stock one is still quite big, but hollow) once the springs/struts are sorted out.

Hi Lonx,
Based on your driving enviroment, I'd suggest that you use Koni Sport shocks, as opposed to Koni Special. These have a firmer valve pack, and combined with our Control springs will give you a good balance between street driveability and track performance. The adjustment available will also allow you to progressively tune your suspension as you do more mods in the future.
Our 27mm solid rear sway bar for your car, is approximately 50% stiffer then the hollow OEM unit.
I hope I've answered your questions, but feel free to ask more.
Regards,
Wojtek.
Thanks Wojtek, I was intending to fit the Sport adjustables already :) Glad you agree with my thoughts on these as well. I appreciate your reply,
Wojtek

good good...
let us know how it turns out.
Cheers,
Wojtek.
Good news :) Found a very good price on my suspension which means I'll now be fitting a whiteline rear sway bar (27mm) at the same time.
Thinking of setting the bar at its 2nd lowest setting out of the 4, would you agree with this?

Hi Lonx,
ahh...
BNR91 - rear 27mm soild sway bar to suit Nissan Pulsar N13 - is non-adjustable.
Are you under the impression that you were going to get an adjustable rear sway bar????
On a positive note, it's good that you got a good deal, and I'm sure that you'll be happy with the handling.
Cheers,
Wojtek.
Well I was guessing, but there's no worries with that anyway. Its been thrown into the deal and comes in cheaper with the swaybar than my best quote otherwise was without it! Thanks for the info,
A little bit of bad news, but nothing too serious.
Parts are ordered, but unfortunately Koni don't have any sport adjustables in their warehouse - only street types. They'd have to order the sport's from the US at the moment, so for the time being i'm going to go with the street struts, and probably tune them a little stiffer than I was going to with the others.
If i find within 2 or 3 months they're not what I'm after, no doubt I'll sell them off to someone within my car club (won't be a hassle at all) and order in the sport adjustables.
Fingers crossed it should all work well still,
Wojtek

Thanks very much for that valuable bit of information. I have just contacted my supplier to ask him to call Koni Aus. If he can't get them I will be speaking to you :)
