Hi there. Great concept for a forums!

In the recent Cruise4ACure cruise (sponsored in part by Whiteline) I was lucky enough to come away with a raffle prize of a Whiteline voucher to the value of $250

Now I could use some suggestions from the experts as to what would be most beneficial for the car.
I will endevour to provide as much detail about my current setup as possible:

- Car is VR series 2 SS Commodore (5.0L V8 auto)
- Rear is IRS
- also fitted with ABS (if it makes a difference)

Mods so far include stiff springs and shocks, a front strut tower brace, and nolathane bushes (All Pedders gear).
The springs and shocks are Pedders GSR (Gas Sports-Ryder), 1 inch lowered.

It also has a Camber kit for the rear, but I was informed later that it was only part of a full camber kit (top or bottom, i forget which), so it only has partial adjustment (about 1 degree either way). My last wheel alignment showed a rear camber of about 2 degrees, which I was told was acceptable. However tyre wear is still dominant on the inside edges.

The car stays pretty flat around corners already. The only handling 'flaw' I can think of is my driving style can sometimes induce some pretty scary understeer.
So what do the experts suggest? Sway bars? Anything else I should be looking at?

If you need any other info, just ask.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

With what you already have installed on your VR and the flaws that you are describing I'd suggust a larger rear anti roll bar and a wheel alignment to go with that.

The bar can help in two ways, it can aid in reducing your scary understeer, and also reduce body roll. By reducing the body roll you can tone down the rear camber a little, this will reduce the inside edge wear that you mention.

The larger rear bar is a 18mm diameter, part number BHR41, although if you say the understeer is really bad, theres an extra heavy duty bar (BHR41X) which is 20mm. Also if you like adjustability, changing and fine tuning your handling balance we also have an adjustable bar for the rear (BHR41Z) which gives 18-22mm.

Thank you. That sounds fine. I like the idea of the adjustables.

If I may I'll correspond with you by email about the details.

The car doesn't understear THAT bad, I am just not a 'balls out', power oversteer kind of driver, sometimes the front wheels scrub if I turn the wheel while still braking quickly.
