Ok I have been so far racing in 3 motorkhana team events in my ET Pulsar. The first meet i just had king springs and new kyb shocks. The body roll was terrible so I got front and rear whiteline swaybars.

I have noticed a slight difference but no where near what I hoped for. I still have nearly just as much body roll in corners when pushed hard and it really makes my tyres work. I know the bars are installed correctly as I got a local suspention place (WA Suspension) to check that I installed them correctly.

Now my brother has been racing his corolla and he only has Low Kmac springs but its sits flat through corners with barely any body roll. So I'm thinking these springs are worn or I need stiffer ones. They came with the car so i dont know how old they are but they are king springs 'low' and progressive.

What would you recommend I do? My budget is low so Coil overs are out of the question. I have plenty of power in the straights but corners are killing me.

Thanks

Also the rear bar is only 18mm but the leverage is much longer so wouldn't the stock 18mm bar actually be stiffer?

Hi,
I am not sure exactly what car you car you have, so it's difficult to say what you need. However, springs, shock and sway bar rates mostly depend on the type of driving AND tyres used. If you want to set your car up for racing using non-street tyres (slicks or semi-slicks) then I would say the you will need stiffer suspension all round to be able to carry the extra lateral forces generated by the sticker tyres. If you are racing on street tyres then you can strike a good balance somewhere in between "standard heavy-duty" and "race spec" suspension settings.
Body roll can also be effectively reduced by limiting suspension travel, although on balance this is detrimental to the handling and NOT recommended, and a cheap and easy way of acheiving this is by fitting excessively low springs.
I suggest that you see your local suspension tuner would will be be able to give you a much more detailed and specific information and recommendations for your car.

Wojtek.

Its an 84 N12 Pulsar (ET Model). How low do the whiteline springs make it? Would they have a higher spring rate than the kings (low) i currently have??

Although my main problem is the whiteline bars made barely any difference yet I hear how they help body roll and handling a lot.
I think it needs a stiffer rear bar. Why is the whiteline bar only 18mm like stock?

I might put the stock rear bar on aswell.

Hi,
thanks for the information.

We don't actually have springs to suit Nissan N12, so can't help you with these unfortunately.
As for the rear sway bar, we list a BNR6 18mm which is a full kit sway bar, implying that the car does not have a factory sway bar. Perhaps you have a different car???

Can you send us some pictures please, of both factory and Whiteline sway bars?

Regards,
Wojtek.

Well I know www.modyourcar.com.au lists whiteline springs for an LB Astra which is the same car (rebadged) as an N12 Pulsar.

Yes I got the BNR6 bar (there are two one for the EXA which doesn't have the stock rear bar and one for the ET which does have a stock rear bar)

Here is a picture. Like I said the diameter is the same but its much longer so in effect it should be not as stiff.

It came with al lthe mounting bushes and brackets ETC and doesn't bolt to any of the original mounts (although the stock bar doesn't bolt to the car only between suspension arms)

My car is what I said an Nissan ET Pulsar . YOu can view pictures of them at www.n12turbo.com they are basically the sports version of a normal n12 pulsar.

Hi,

Thanks for the information.
If you can use both your factory and Whiteline sway bars on the rear of your car, without one hitting on the other, then then will give you the increase you are looking for. In other words, I may ba a case of retaining the factory sway bar, where the Whiteline bar is an addition.

But, YOU will need to check for fitment first.

Wojtek.
