I would like to ask for technical assistance, im in the process of purchasing whiteline swaybars and i just want to know what is the best size for the front and rear.... some suggested 22/20 F/R im also looking into 22/20 any comments and or suggestions on the right size swaybars? the car is used for daily drive and occasional trackday not into hardcore racing.
Thanks

Hi impressive2,
On your 08 STi I would recommend the 22mm Front and 20mm Rear swaybar for everyday street and weekend track use. If you purchase the adjustable variant you'll find that you can easily tune your vehicle from street to circuit settings with ease. The part numbers are as follows:
BSF39Z 22mm Front
BSR49Z 20mm Rear
If you have any questions at all please don't hesitate to let me know.
Cheers,
Wayne

hi wayne im considering 22mm on the rear also with settings in the middle is'nt this the same as 20mm in the hardest settings any comments on this set up? why 20 on the rear? does this also apply to the wrx 08 cars?

Hi impressive2,
Unlike the earlier Impreza platforms which were recommended to have the same size swaybar both front and rear the 08 chassis requires a smaller bar on the rear in comparison to the front of the vehicle to deliver a much more neutral handling balance. This is the same for STi and WRX vehicles.
The adjustable rear swaybars don't overlap in their effective range. Each swaybar has a central hole which is the effective 22mm or 20mm setting respective of which bar you fit. From there you have a marginally stiffer and softer setting on either side.
In real world terms the hardest setting on the 20mm bar is closer to the softest setting on the 22mm swaybar.

Wayne

Hi impressive2,
You are correct, the same principle follows over to the '09 Forester which shares the same swaybars as the '08 Sti.
