View Full Version : Whiteline Camber Kit Squeaks on Skyline-R32

Hi Guys,

I?ve recently placed your adjustable camber kit in the upper control arms of my R32 GTR. The unit seems to be of a high quality and after using the supplied bush lubricant I had no issues for about two weeks.

It then started to squeak and so I rang up your office and asked for advice on the correct product to use on the supplied grease nipples. I was told Catrol LM is what your workshop uses.

I can only achieve 2-3 days of silent use out of the unit before it starts to squeak again.

I?ve now regreased three times. I?ve loosened the bolts off so the grease can penetrate the bushes but that didn?t help.

Could you please suggest how I can fix this as it?s a particularly annoying blemish on an otherwise excellent product.

Cheers

Hi,

The bushes in this product must be thoroughly lubricated on all surfaces, and this includes inside the bushes. To do this, the whole bush assembly must be removed from the control arm, cleaned of any dirt, lubricated, and reassembled again. Unfortunately, loosening the bolts off and applying grease on the outside of the bush will not allow the grease to penetrate inside. We also found that spray grease helps in some cases.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Wojtek.

OK, thanks Wojtek.

I did thoroughly lubricate the internals of the bushes when I first placed them in the arm. I had two weeks of silent operation.

Would you expect a longer service life than this?

I?m a bit confused why there are grease nipples if it won?t allow lubrication of the components that require it first. Surely if the components that first need regreasing in the service life of the unit require that the unit be pulled down, then the components that are lubricated by the grease nipples could be done at this point as well?

You have mentioned that the bushes need to be lubricated on the ?inside?. Do you mean on the surfaces that the bolt passes through only or the surfaces that are press fitted into the supplied metal sleaves?

Hi,

I do not doubt that you have done a good job, and a noise free period of two weeks is too short. I didn't realise that you had grease nipples with this kit, but it's good that you do, and although it does allow grease to be squeesed into the middle of the bush, complete removal and disassembly will have better results. You may find that the bush is still dry inside. All polyurethane bush surfaces must be lubricated, or at least the surface that the bush pivots on. In most cases, the way that polyurethane bushes work, is that the bush is fixed (does not rotate) in its housing (in this case this being the control arm), but it does pivots/rotate on the metal crush tube, which is the most likely cause to your noise.

Wojtek.

Ok, Ill pull the unit apart and dunk it in lube. I suspect as you have indicated that the sleave (crush tube) is dry where it contacts the polyurethane. It is a bit disappointing that the grease nipples don?t work adequately. As far as I can see its pointless having grease nipples if it doesn?t prevent exactly this scenario?

Do you guys make this kit or is it only distributed by you? (I bought it through Whiteline)

G'day ADMGTR,

KCA336 is a Whiteline kit.

As with all urethane bushes, it is vital that all surfaces of the bush that move on metal are lubricated - especialy at initial break-in.

If you adhere to Wojtek's advice I'm sure that the problem will just go away and you will be more than satisfied with the camber kit on your R32.
