Hi there,
I have an AE82 Corolla Twincam with an AE101 GTZ engine & gearbox conversion in it. Currently it has King Spring Superlows all around, on Pedders struts. Due to the increased weight of the front LSD drivetrain & engine, the front coils are binding and hitting bumpstops when going over bumps or dips in the road. This leads to scrubbing of the tyres on the front, even though im running 15" rims and low profile tyres.
Now I understand that due to the extra weight, this is putting more stress on the front springs.
I have heard that ST162 Celica springs are very similar to the AE82 springs in terms of dimensions etc, except they have a higher spring rate and therefore will deal better with the increased weight over the front. Can you tell me if the ST162 springs are similar in terms of dimentions & size, and if they will fit into my AE82 struts? The whiteline part numbers are:
AE82 Twincam Front: 70389
AE82 Twincam Rear: 78606
ST162 Front: 72801A
ST162 Rear: 78808A
I want the best handling possible for street use, whilst coping with the occasional track day. I'll be thinking of running an upgraded Whiteline front sway bar, rear swaybar & rear strut brace. Aswell as a freshen up of any major bushes.
Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks!
