I have been recommended whiteline as an excellent product and would like to use your products in modifying my car. That said I have virtually no knowledge of what I will require to accomplish what I want.
I have an AU1 XR6 VCT with the IRS rear suspension. I would like to keep the current ride quality and performance however I would like to drop the hight around 50mm front and rear.
Could you please help me with decieding what I would need to do this?
Regards,
Casper

g'day Casper,
An article was produced by Autospeed on the AU titled "Mission Impossible". Well we didn't think it was impossible and we proved that if set up properly, the AU can become a well handling machine. A link to the article is here:

We have not put everything together in kit form as yet but we can supply all the parts specified in the article.

Peter, I read that article and it covers mods to a Forte, which doesn't have IRS.
I have a Fairmont Ghia VCT. Both Casper's and my Ford have the Tickford IRS suspension.
They ride and handle really well. Casper wants his lowered, I want mine lowered and stiffer sway bars to reduce the body roll (being a luxury model, it's kinda soft in that respect). But we don't want to lose the great handling and road-feel that we've got from the Tickford IRS kit.
I've looked thru your literature and can't find details of anything specific to our particular cars. If there isn't a suitable kit for them, what's the next move - should I take my car into Whiteline so they can check out the suspension and recommend a set of mods?
How applicable would they be to Casper's more 'tuned' IRS set-up?
Thanks fr your advice

G'day Dark Grunter and the Friendly Ghost,
Reference to our spring and swaybar catalogues will reveal all :)
We do in fact have the necessary "bits" for your rides.
The BFF21 Series of front bars will fit the Series II AU -on, different sizes are available for match up to the selected rear bars and the added weight of V8 iron etc.
The rear is somewhat a bit different requiring an extensive array of twisted spring steel to satisfy the different model configurations including of course IRS and non IRS etc and the XR6/8 VCT etc.
We also have a front control arm adjuster kit that will provide up to +7 deg caster and 1.5 deg camber. This is a serious device that will enable you to achieve a realistic wheel alignment and plant your rubber on the pavement in a seep and meaningful way.
Springs for the different configurations are also available and we can match up a set of shocks for you.
May I suggest that you give Wayne a call in the workshop on 9603 0111 and he will be able to quote you a price for make your AU something to reckon with :)
Regards

Peter thanks for your detailed reply. Sounds as if the suspension mods will be a 'hand-made' job for our cars, both of which are warmed sixes. I'll call Wayne and make a time for a check- out. Casper isn't in Sydney so I'll get some details from him about his suspension set-up and talk to Wayne on his behalf too.
thanks again. Great information.
