Guys...Need your help.

I am in the middle of modifying my 2004 XT BA Classic Sedan . I have added an F6 Typhoon front bar along with 19" rims and Dunlop 245/35/19 tyres. My next stage is to lower the vehicle..here are my questions and I'd really appreciate your help.

1. I am thinking of lowering to XR height (lows) all round (about 25mm so I'm told) as to go any lower I think I'm gonna have front bar scraping issues to deal with. The F6 bar is lower than the standard XR bar by about 35mm. However some people have put SL's on XT's with similar bars with no scrape problems...So need advice here...Could these guys with no scraping issues with their SL springs have stiffer springs?.As it is my bar will scrape at standard height if I go over humps too quick and I suspect this may be due to the bounciness of standard springs (I guess)

I want to lower the car firstly for cosmetic reasons , because now that it has a nice kit and rims it appears to sit too high and looks ridiculous, secondly for handling perfromance.

2. By going XR height will I notice improved handling? Note I want the same height all round as I like the bum a little higher . That is contrary to what a lot of blokes want (i.e SL' front and SSL's rear) but I like the current stance , just want it lowered.

3. If handling will improve but comfort deteriorates, I guess i can overcome this with better quality shorter shocks...is that so? what brands would you recommend. I've been told Konis or Bilsteins...what sort of price woudl I be looking at for these (roughly)...I've also been told I should try and pick up a set of XR standard shocks off Ebay, but don't want second hand shocks

4. Should I put in new sway bars and bushes? I hear Whiteline are teh go. However if I'm not gonna notice any substantial improvement I'd rather not part wirh my hard earned.

Basically I want the following (not too much to ask...ha ha)

1. Lower ride
2. better handling and no bouncy ride
3. vastly improved comfort
4. no leaning over on corners as it's doing now
4. no bar scrape (critical although a lot rests with the driver I know)
5. no sagging in the rear with a load in the back

Maybe if I get a suspension setup similar to an F6 Typhoon that would solve my problems...Is that any different to a NA XR6?

Heres a pic as the car is now....too much gap in between guard and tyres as you can see

Really appreciate your help guys

Hi ozmale42,

For handling improvement the first step we recommend is replacing the front and rear swaybars, part numbers -

Front
BFF21 - 27mm Swaybar
BFF21X - 30mm Swaybar
BFF21XZ - 30mm Adj. Swaybar

Rear -
BFR42 - 22mm Swaybar
BFR42Z - 22mm Adj. Swaybar

Secondly We recommend combining with our control springs, (will lower your Falcon approx 25-30mm) part numbers-

73191 - Front and
73192 - for the rear. To maintain good ride quality and handling we recommend you combine our coils with a good quality shock such as KYB, Koni, or Bilstein

If you have any further enquiries please feel free to contact us.

Thanks for that John

By going as you've suggested how will I go in terms of scraping my front bar.

Will I notice a vast improvement over what I've currently got?

Also can you give me some prices for each of the options you've illustrated
you can send me a private message if that suits.

Also where are you located?...I live in the Cronulla/Sutherland region..

Again many thanks
Peter

Should I go the 27m or 30m sway bar in front? and is the adjustable preferable to the non adjustable in the rear?

Hi Peter,

Scraping should not be a problem with our Control springs as long as your shocks are of good Quality. In regards to the front Swaybar I recommend the part number -
BFF21XZ - 30mm Adj. Swaybar combining this with the part number-
BFR42- Rear 22mm Swaybar. In regards to handling you will notice a substantial improvement.
