hey i'm new here so go easy on me.

heres my quesion, is there goin to be much of a gain in me getting some springs custom made at a specific spring rate over my current control springs ~lovells not whiteline, but i can't imagine theres much difference there~ spring rates i'm looking are are 6Kg/mm fronts, and 4Kg/mm for the rear, or maybe a 7/5 setup, i dunno which one would be better i'm up in QLD so our roads aren't terribly great thinking the softer of the 2 might be better.

thanks for any light you can shed on this, i would imagine there enough gain in doin so but the loss of comfort would discourage most ppl from these spring rates.

Edit: oh and if you feel its relivent i'm running koni adjustables all round for shocks, and camber tops and pins on the front.

Hi, and welcome to our community,

My first question is: Are you going any racing, as the springs rates you have asked for would indicated that you are doing some type of racing and using semi-sleak tyres. If you are not, and you are only using your car as a daily driver, then I belive that your intended spring rates are too firm.

Secondly, we are unable to give you any sort of comparison based on your non-Whiteline springs, as we do not know their specifications. However, as a point of reference, our Control lowering springs for your car are 3.1 kg/mm front and 1.7 to 2.7 kg/mm rear.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Wojtek.

oooh a reply i feel like a kid with a $50 in a confectionary store... jks

thanks for getting back to me, the car is still currently being driven as a daily driver but is goin to be doin some track time in the near future, so i guess the question is would the firm springs be too uncomfortable for daily driving, and should i wait till its retired from this duty and only comes out to play on weekends?

Keeping in mind that the original springs are still slightly softer then our Control lowering option, I would suggest that anything over say around 4kg/mm in the front is going to be less then comfortable for an everyday street car. But, everyone has different expectations and level of tolerance, so what is comfortable for one person may not be for another.
Another thing to be aware of is that ride stiffness and the resulting comfort is also dependant on the amount of suspension travel. If there is insufficient amount of suspension compression and rebound travel with the suspension then crashing out on the travel limiters/bump stops, then no matter how soft or "right" the springs are, ride comfort will suffer.
Hope that helps.

Wojtek.

not sure if i followed that completely, but i'm assuming your talking about the dampeners in the shocks, in which case the koni adjustables would probably come into there own for sorting out that kinda stuff, i know the rebound on them tho is pretty slow when fully turned up
